He Fangying (formerly Huang Qun) was born in Baihe County, Shaanxi Province, and traces her ancestral home to Wuchuan City, Guangdong Province. She earned her Doctor of Literature and completed postdoctoral research in Philosophy. Currently, she holds the positions of Research Fellow at the Institute of Foreign Literature, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Professor at the University of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Her additional academic appointments include Executive Editor-in-Chief of Research in Classics, Associate Editor of Classics and Civilizations (Journal of the Chinese Academy of Classical Civilization), Director of the CASS Center for Classical Civilization Studies, Secretary-General of the Classical Studies Branch of the Chinese Society for Foreign Literature, and Deputy Secretary-General of the Classical Studies Committee of the Chinese Comparative Literature Association. She also serves as a Visiting Scholar at the Faculty of Classics, University of Oxford, and Editor-in-Chief of the Classics Studies Monograph Series published by China Social Sciences Press.
