The original text of Annals is now lost, leaving behind fragments of the text in an unclear order, with ambiguous meanings that are diffi cult to grasp. The only way to understand the poet’s teachings is to read the text closely to explore his image of orbis terrarum and imperium in Annals. This research shows that in Annals, the true position of Rome is the conqueror and ruler of the world, and that is the exact meaning of imperium.
