The Central Archaeological Council, Hellenic Republic Ministry of Culture approved the application of Chinese Academy of History to establish Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens

  

  
  At 9:00 PM local time in Athens on September 14, 2024, the Central Archaeological Council, Hellenic Republic Ministry of Culture officially approved the application of Chinese Academy of History (CAH) to establish Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens (CSCSA). This is a milestone in the history of the establishment of the Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens, which will provide a broad platform for scholars to delve into the origins and development of Western ancient civilizations represented by ancient Greek civilization, promote academic exchanges and cooperation between China and the West, and achieve mutual learning of civilizations.
  During the deliberation process of the Central Archaeological Council, Professor LI Xinwei from the Institute Ancient Chinese History, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences delivered a brief speech to member of the Central Archaeological Council on the purpose of the Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens, emphasizing the founding spirit of "learning," "sharing," and "collaboration," which was unanimously praised by all the members present. The members also exchanged ideas with on several concepts and feasibility of subsequent archaeological excavations and research projects to be undertaken by the institute. Ultimately, the application was passed with unanimous approval by the members of the Central Archaeological Council.
  At the same time, various other preparations of the Chinese School of Classical Studies at Athens are also progressing steadily, and it is expected to officially commence operations in November 2024.
  The Central Archaeological Council and Museums Council (Greek: Κεντρικό Αρχαιολογικό Συμβούλιο και Συμβούλιο Μουσείων) is the highest advisory body in Greece, consisting of 17 members selected from archaeologists, scientists, educators, and artists. The Council is responsible for the protection and restoration of cultural sites, the management of archaeological sites, the establishment and management of museums, and the supervision of research and excavation activities conducted by local antiquities authorities and foreign archaeological institutions active in Greece.
